What will a Rookie Learn?
Rookies work towards achieving the RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Qualification, a nationally recognized award that focuses on water safety, rescue techniques, first aid, and CPR. This qualification provides them with a strong foundation for future lifeguard training or any water-based activity.
Being based in Jersey, an island surrounded by water, it's vital for children to start learning about water safety from a young age. With access to beaches and pools, understanding how to stay safe in and around water is crucial. The RLSS Rookie Lifeguard Qualification equips young participants with the skills and knowledge they need to navigate these environments confidently, helping them to not only protect themselves but also assist others in an emergency.

What will a Youth Learn?
1. Speed and Endurance Session (Tuesdays)
On Tuesdays, our Youth members focus on speed and endurance training. These sessions are designed to improve swimming stamina, strength, and speed in the water, essential qualities for any lifeguard or swimmer. Through a range of drills and techniques, participants will push their limits and build the physical skills necessary for lifesaving situations.
2. RLSS Lifesaving Academy Qualification
In the second session of the week, Youth members work towards achieving the RLSS National Lifesaving Academy qualifications. This program covers advanced rescue techniques, first aid, water safety theory, and practical skills. Whether they aim to become professional lifeguards or simply want to master lifesaving abilities, this qualification provides essential training that could one day save a life.
Through these sessions, JARC Youth members develop a well-rounded set of aquatic skills, ensuring they are not only fit and fast but also knowledgeable and prepared to act in emergency situations.
